Seymour Motorcyclist Dies in Afternoon Crash

This afternoon, at approximately 3:45 pm, a single vehicle motorcycle crash in rural Jackson County, claimed the life of a Seymour man.

The initial investigation by Trooper Seth Davidson indicated that a silver 2004 chopper motorcycle being driven by Timothy Kerkhof, age 40, Seymour, Indiana was traveling southbound on County Road 700 East, approaching County Road 725 North, just north of Seymour. The evidence indicates that Kerkhof lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to navigate a sharp curve while turning onto County Road 725 North.

Kerkhof was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash. He sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was soon pronounced deceased by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

An Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionist was called to assist with the crash investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Seymour Police Department, Jackson County EMS, Redding Township Fire Department, Jackson County Coroner’s Office, and 31 Wrecker Service.
