Scott Frederick Huber, 45

Scott Frederick Huber, 45, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on February 2, 1981, in Columbus, Indiana, the only child of Frederick and Linda (Dalton) Huber.

Scott was a 1999 graduate of Greensburg High School. He had a deep passion for history, especially the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. He eagerly studied battles, forts, ships, generals, and admirals, and his dedication to learning earned him the highest history testing score in his graduating class. Every trip to the bookstore meant another history book was coming home with him.

Scott faithfully worked for 29½ years at the family business, Huber’s Greensburg Locker, where he was deeply devoted to his work and the people around him. He enjoyed working alongside his parents, cousins, and friends, whether preparing specialty cuts of meat for the market or assisting customers with processing needs. More than anything, he loved visiting and talking with the customers who came through the doors.

He loved his truck and enjoyed taking peaceful drives through the countryside or down the interstate, window down and arm resting outside, simply taking in the world around him. He treasured family gatherings and cherished the time spent with those he loved.

Scott was a devoted man of faith and values who loved attending church on Sundays. He was a member of the American Sons of the Legion Post #129 of Greensburg and supported The Army Historical Foundation National Museum of the United States Army founded by General Eric K. Shinseki.

He also enjoyed collecting Harley-Davidson memorabilia and reading about rare coins and their history and value.

Scott was a gentle soul who loved life. Quiet and shy by nature, he never wanted to be the center of attention, but once you knew him, you discovered a thoughtful, caring, and genuine person. He was a wonderful listener who paid close attention to others and had a remarkable ability to recognize sincerity in people.

Throughout his health struggles, Scott remained a good and faithful servant of God. He prayed earnestly for healing while continually thanking God for his salvation. He never wanted to burden his caretakers, doctors, or nurses, and his grace and attitude through difficult times became a blessing to many who cared for him. Through his faith and testimony, he helped lead many people into a personal relationship with God.

Scott was deeply patriotic. One of his favorite secular songs was “Coming to America” by Neil Diamond, while his favorite gospel song was “There Is Power in the Blood.” His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16

Scott will be missed by his parents, Fred and Linda Huber; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Jean Dalton and Bob and Louise Huber and many aunts, uncles and cousins who he loved dearly.
