GREENSBURG, IN — A community-led walking initiative has successfully raised thousands of dollars to support the ongoing Decatur County Pool Project.
Earlier this spring, DASI Kids encouraged community members to participate in their Autism Acceptance Walk for a Cause campaign and help them reach their goal of a combined 10 million steps in April. Participants not only met that staggering distance, but their collective efforts also generated $2,250 in direct proceeds.
DASI Kids pledged all remaining proceeds from their 6th annualcampaign to the Decatur County Pool Project. In a major boost to the fundraising campaign, the Decatur County Community Foundation has fulfilled its promise to match those funds dollar for dollar. This brings the grand total to $4,500 pledged directly to the pool initiative.
“Hitting our 10-million-step goal was a true community effort, but seeing those steps transform into real funding for our community pool is the ultimate reward,” DASI Kids representatives said. “We are incredibly grateful to every walker who logged miles and to the Decatur County Community Foundation for doubling our impact.”
The Decatur County Pool Project is a local initiative aimed at providing a safe, modern and accessible recreational swimming facilityfeaturing a zero-entry design and splash pads. It’s a dream come true for families who need accessible recreation.
DASI Kids would like to again express their sincere appreciation for the support they continue to receive from the community; and a very special thank you to the Walk for a Cause sponsors – without them, this campaign would not be possible. The 2026 DASI Kids Walk for a Cause Platinum Sponsorsinclude Rob Plue at Edward Jones, Emily Nowlin State Farm, Russ Hubler Automotive Group, Gene Cooney with Ruoff Mortgage and the Hollars family of Phantom Diesel Performance. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
