The meeting began with normal monthly approvals.
Eric Blodgett, Chief Deputy received approval for the renewal of the Guardian Systems contract. The contract is $17,700 per year for three years. He spoke about new upgrades that this renewal will allow them to use.
Highway Department representative Justin stated that the department is currently prepping gravel roads that are going to be chip and sealed with the CCMG grant. The projected start date on that project is June 22nd. Justin provided other updates for the department as well as talking about the department staff are training on new equipment.
The commissioners approved two fair related quotes- $6,354 for Ellis Tents & Events for six tents, fire suppression equipment and labor. The second quote was $2,307.68 to Clear Sound for them to ensure all sound equipment is ready to go at the track and the headquarters building.
Rick Anderson, Veregy, came to speak with the commissioners about their proposal for upgrades at the Annex that they had brought to the commissioners in the past and took to the council. He stated that the project kind of stalled and he just wanted to check in and see if there was a possibility of reviving that project. Commissioner Brian Wenning told Rick that he is part of the Long Range Planning Committee and they are currently looking at projects with the Annex being one of them.
The commissioners approved the Friends of the Greensburg & Decatur County Animal Shelter for their use of the county parking lot beside of Links Tavern for their Jeep Ride on August 29, 2026 to end at Links Tavern. This was more for safety of those parking when the ride ends.
