Building Connections Across Generations through Girl Scouting!

Thanks to the generosity of our community partners, this year marked the successful launch of a new intergenerational Girl Scout Troop in Decatur County!

With help from the Decatur County United Fund, we were able to create a unique program that brought together Girl Scouts and senior residents to learn, connect and grow in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

We partnered with Aspen Place Assisted Living in Greensburg, where residents participated in leading troop meetings and activities through the year. The troop worked toward several badges, including Girl Scout Way, First Aid, Bugs, Fair Play, and Dance. This unique program helped create a sense of community for both the girls and the senior residents that extends far beyond the traditional Girl Scout troop experiences.

To celebrate a successful first year, the troop gathered for a pizza party and planted flowers at their final meeting.

We are grateful to Aspen Place Assisted Living for opening their doors and helping making this program possible. A huge thank you to Decatur County United Fund for funding this program and making this all possible.

We’re excited to announce that Decatur County United Fund has awarded an additional grant for the coming year, which allows us to expand and strengthen this intergenerational troop. Through continued community support, we will create more opportunities for girls of all ages to learn, serve, and connect!
