FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Decatur County REMC Board of Directors Statement
Greensburg, Indiana – April 7, 2025
Attorneys for the Directors and CEO of Decatur County REMC have filed Motions to Dismiss all claims in the legal complaint filed against our Board and CEO in January 2025.
In full transparency for our members, the Board is also publishing the official letters mentioned by the
plaintiffs in the lawsuit on the DCREMC website (www.dcremc.com/about-us/company-documents). For
unknown reasons the plaintiffs chose not to include these letters in their public filing, but we want to
ensure that our members have access to the complete information.
Over the course of several months, DCREMC responded to every complaint, often addressing the same
issue multiple times, but the plaintiffs remained unsatisfied.
Since the filing of the lawsuit, the plaintiffs have sent in even more complaint letters and as always, the
Cooperative follows the steps outlined in Rule 16 and has responded with the facts. These recent
complaints are requesting that the Board address questions about an issue that is over three years old
and was already resolved at that time.
At its core, we believe this lawsuit is just like the plaintiffs’ prior complaint letters that DCREMC already
addressed—an attempt to create baseless claims, get in the news, and distract the Board and staff.
The Board and the staff are focused on our members and the operations of DCREMC and will continue to
run the Cooperative according to the policies and bylaws.
It appears to us that the plaintiffs are focused only on their special interests, and our members should be
aware that these issues have already wasted countless hours and resources, with no apparent end in
sight. This needs to stop. We will remain focused on what’s best for our entire membership, our co-op,
and our community.
