On August 22, 2025, charges were filed in the Decatur County Courts alleging that Melissa Kramer committed the following offenses:

  • Count 1: Fraud, a Level 5 Felony
  • Count 2: Fraud, a Level 5 Felony
  • Count 3: Theft, a Level 6 Felony

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the investigation began in June 2025 after attorneys representing Napoleon State Bank reported allegations to the Indiana State Police that Melissa Kramer, a former bank employee, had committed theft.

Court documents allege that between January 1, 2022, and March 1, 2025, a total of $44,443 was taken from the bank where Kramer served as Assistant Manager. The details of the allegations are outlined in the Affidavit of Probable Cause.

At a change-of-plea hearing held on June 16, 2026, Kramer pleaded guilty to Level 6 Felony Theft involving property valued between $750 and $50,000. The 2 Fraud charges were dismissed as part of the plea. Judge Timothy Day accepted the guilty plea and sentenced her to 540 days of incarceration, with 420 days suspended to probation. The court also awarded Kramer 4 days of jail credit and 4 days of good-time credit. As a result, she is required to serve 120 days of incarceration, subject to further reduction through good-time credit.

On June 16, 2026, restitution in the amount of $44,443, along with $389 in court costs, was paid to the Decatur County Clerk’s office.
