Betty Ellen Remmler, age 93

Betty Ellen Remmler, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 26, 1932, she was the cherished daughter of Carl F. Bettner and Bertha Short Bettner.

Betty was raised in St. Paul, Indiana, where she attended St. Paul High School. As a young girl, she worked at her Daddy’s Soda Shop in St Paul, a place that remained dear to her heart throughout her life. She often shared fond memories of making milkshakes.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Betty worked alongside her father at Waldron Tool and Die. Through determination and commitment, she eventually took on a management role within the company. She also spent time working at the dress factory in Greensburg.

Betty married the love of her life, Paul E. Remmler. While she often described herself as a “city girl,” she gradually came to appreciate and accept the farming life that Paul loved. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

A member of Star Baptist Church, Betty devoted much of her life to serving others. Her faith was evident in her service as a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years, where she helped guide and inspire generations of children. Betty also spent countless times involved with VBS. She was active in the Ladies Aid, and was a proud member of the Apple Core Gang, in which she was lovingly known as “Betty Boop” which came from a childhood nickname. Later in life, she started attending New Point Christian Church with her daughter. In the last few years she started to attend LifeLine Wesleyan Church with her son.

Betty found happiness in many things, ice cream being at the top of the list. She could find any excuse to get ice cream. She loved birds, cardinals most of all, gardening, and shopping. She always enjoyed traveling and exploring new places with friends and family. Rarely content to sit still, she was always on the move, embracing life with energy and enthusiasm. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved immensely.

Betty is survived by children: Darlene Banks, Paul (Rose Bedel) Remmler, John (Mauriene Flannery) Remmler, David Remmler and Tammy (Mark) Buening; grandchildren: Leah (Banks) Fields, Ashley (Banks) Nickell, Mike Remmler, Nick Remmler, Daniel Remmler, Dale Remmler, Charlie Remmler, Mark Remmler, Steven Remmler, Ellen (Buening) Kernodle and Clair (Buening) Fuller; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; and son-in-law, David Banks.
