Mary Ellen Narwold, 95

Mary Ellen (Richey, Brown) Narwold passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Milroy, Indiana on May 3, 1926 to Stella Louise (Fishback) Richey and Edward Pete Richey. Mary attended Milroy School. She was baptized at age 9 in 1935 in the Presbyterian Church in Milroy. She attended this church starting at the age of 4.

Mary worked at the Milroy canning factory and also the Rushville furniture factory, later the G.C. Murphy’s Store in Greensburg for 12 years.

She married Sgt. Carlos R. Brown, who served in the US Army on August 30th 1943. After his discharge, they moved to Greensburg. They had four children: Helen M. Brown Hamilton Vannice, Judith Ann Brown (Lozier), Carlos R. Brown JR, Nancy Sue Brown, and adopted daughter Lynne Adams.

Mary enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and bingo, and had a love for her children and grandchildren. Her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior.

She later married Robert (Sticky) Narwold on Nov 15, 1969 in the Presbyterian Church Minister’s office. Robert had four children: Barbara Peterson, Dave Narwold, and Danny Narwold (deceased). Kathy Tuckett; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Carlos and Robert; her mother and father; four brothers: Robert, Edwin, Paul and Billy; seven sisters: Helen Richey Meyers, Virginia Richey Housten, Ethel Richey Fisher, Gladys Richey Faussner, Naomi Richey Marten, Norma Richey Clark, infant sister Elenor Jean Richey, and granddaughter Kimberly Ann Lozier.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, IN. A funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at South Park Cemetery following the services.
